The Berghoff Restaurant is a classic among Chicago restaurants, serving German-American cuisine and culture since 1898. Herman Berghoff first opened The Berghoff’s doors as a men-only saloon and made his start serving free corned beef sandwiches with the purchase of a stein of Berghoff Beer. Surviving Prohibition and obtaining Chicago’s No. 1 Liquor License, The Berghoff has become a Chicago dining staple.

At today’s Berghoff Restaurant, considered one of the best restaurants in Chicago and conveniently located in the bustling Chicago Theater District, menus have evolved to include newer, lighter and more contemporary dishes (including many that are gluten free), alongside treasured old world favorites. Enjoying the iconic Berghoff experience, down to the famous Berghoff Root Beer, is a must for your “Things To Do In Chicago” list.

Berghoff Restaurant Menus

The Berghoff Restaurant serves lunch Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dinner is served Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. The Berghoff is closed on Sundays. All prices and selections are subject to change.
