St. Patty's Day
Tuesday, Mar 9, 2010
I always look forward to March, as do most Chicagoans. March means that the year is rolling along and people are finally starting to get out more. To me, this March is a tiny sliver of sunshine after the two recent disasters in Haiti and Chile, which seemed to bring people to a paralyzing freeze. It reminds me to be thankful for everything around me, as I hope you are too.
St. Patrick’s Day is marked with so many Chicago traditions: green rivers, parades, Irish stew, stouts, soda bread, and, a Berghoff favorite, corned beef. Last year, the Berghoff cooked and served 12,000 pounds of corned beef in March alone. From Reubens to Corned Beef and Hash, my family has served Chicagoans their Corned Beef, a St. Patty’s staple, for over a century and knows how to do it right.
The restaurant is gearing up for the parade this Saturday, March 13th. We’ve got plenty of Irish food, drink, face painting, bagpipers, and more. Parade-goers enjoy coming to the Berghoff, because it’s so centrally located and we certainly know how to get our green on. Last year, we sold nearly 500 Berghoff Beers. Let’s top that number this year.
Cheers!
