Halloween Treat For You and Your Children!

Halloween is fastly approaching and a great treat to make with your children is the chip cookie from my new cookbook, "The Berghoff Cafe Cookbook."
You can add halloween candy to this batch and make it into a great treat!
Makes 48 small or 16 large
½ pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened1 ½ cups brown sugar 2 large eggs 1/4 cup heavy cream 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda½ teaspoon salt1 ½ cups chips of choice: dark chocolate,milk chocolate, butterscotch, peanutbutter, white chocolate, toffee 3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two bakingsheets with parchment paper.In a medium-size mixing bowl, cream the butterand brown sugar on medium speed until lightand fluffy. Add the eggs, cream, and vanilla andcontinue to mix on low speed until all the ingredientsare incorporated. Scrape down the bowl.In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, andsalt. Slowly add the dry mixture to the creamyegg mixture until incorporated. Scrape thebowl. Stir the chips and nuts into the doughby hand. Or divide the dough into three equalportions and stir ½ cup of a different kind ofchip into each portion and add ¼ cup of nutsto each.For small cookies, drop a tablespoon onto theprepared baking sheets, leaving 1 inch betweencookies, and bake for 9 to 11 minutes. For largecookies, use a ¼-cup ice-cream scoop to scoopthe dough onto the prepared baking sheets,leaving 2 inches between the cookies. Bake for12 to 15 minutes, rotating the pans in the ovenonce midway through the baking time. Let thecookies cool slightly on the pans, then transferthem to a cooling rack. Store the cookies at room temperature in airtight containers.
