Barbecue for Celiac Too on Wordpress

July means barbecues, and that will never change in my family. I’ve always said, I could live without a stove, but not without a grill. Weather permitting, my family grills out four nights a week. Grilling is my favorite way to entertain for extended family and friends as well. Why not make sure everyone can enjoy the meal and have some Celiac- friendly recipes to throw on the grill?

What I’ve learned the most from my family’s modified diets, is that it’s not about changing your whole life or learning a hundred new recipes. If you know what to eat and learn what your body can handle, you can adapt anything! Below I’ve posted two of my favorite grilling recipes from the Berghoff Family Cookbook, which have been only slightly adapted for the gluten-free diet. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family has!

1. I love turkey, and not just on the holidays. Pesto is a great compliment to turkey and makes a wonderful marinade. Try my gluten-free recipe for Barbecued Pesto Turkey Breast at your next cook out and see what I mean. I use my own pesto without cheese and Organicville Barbecue Sauce so it’s both dairy- and gluten-free.

2. Red Potatoes Vinaigrette This is such a relief from mashed potatoes and mayonnaise-based potato salad. It’s tasty, easy to make and voila! – already gluten-free!

3. If you want a quick, easy dessert, finish that off with a root beer float made with Berghoff’s Famous Root Beer, which is made with real sugar and no gluten.

Grilling is all about keeping it simple, tasty and fun. Eating for Celiac doesn’t need to change that.
