It’s that time of the year when our social calendars are full of holiday parties and gatherings.  There’s always that little thing that most people either forget about or don’t put much thought into, but is how you really say thank you and happy holidays…the hostess gift.  I prefer to skip the usual bottle of wine and give the gift of inspiration with more unique, out of the box gifts.  In an effort to simplify my life, I make a batch of gifts at the beginning of the season so they’re only a reach away when heading out the door to a party.

CelloViaThis year my go-to hostess gifts will be a bottle of CelloVia with a few recipes attached. CelloVia is a locally made line of Cello liquor we have been featuring at Berghoff Bar for the better part of this year.  It is an extremely diverse liquor that can be used in a variety of recipes.  I’ve chosen to use the Blood Orange Vanilla Liquor with holiday inspired recipes attached: Blood Orange Vanilla Panna Cotta and Blood Orange Cello Cream Sauce.

The gift is not only delicious, but also a challenge to my recipients’ to expand their culinary horizons and utilize the Cello in whatever way they choose.  Happy holidays to you and your hostesses, Cheers!

Blood Orange Cello Cream Sauce

Yield: 4 servings

2 ounces

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup CelloVia Blood Orange Vanilla Liquor
  • 1 orange, cut into coarsely chopped segments
  • Pinch of salt (to taste)

Combine heavy cream, orange juice, and blood orange CelloVia in a 1-quart saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until close to boiling. Bring down heat to a low simmer for about 15 minutes until mixture has reduced by half.
