Guten Tag! Herman der German here…back from Germany and in Chicago for my favorite time of the year…Oktoberfest. It’s a bit hotter here than it is back home, but then again it’s not as hot as in a frying pan, so not complaints from this brat. I have been busy traveling all around town spreading the word, German cheer, and getting everyone excited for the 27th Annual Berghoff Oktoberfest. I have so much to share with you all, but I thought I’d begin with the whole reason for the celebration – to help raise money and awareness for our favorite charity and long time partner, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.
This past Monday night, along with Carlyn and the Berghoff team, we made our annual visit to Mercy Home and helped serve a traditional German dinner (no brats for me) to the boys and girls. I gotta say, if there’s one place I’m really a hit – it’s with the kids! We had so much fun hanging out, reminiscing of highlights from past fests, and getting excited for this year’s Oktoberfest.
Mercy Home’s involvement in this year’s fest is bigger and better than ever. We conduct 2 raffles during Oktoberfest in which their proceeds go towards Mercy Home. For $20 a ticket you’ll be entered to win a 2 night stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point CA courtesy of Strategic Hotels & Resorts with main cabin round trip air transportation for winner and a companion courtesy of American Airlines. The second raffle is Mercy Home’s 125th Anniversary Raffle. While each ticket is $100, you have a chance to win $10,000. Don’t be a Weiner, buy a ticket and you could be a winner!
New this year is something we are calling a “Commemorative Cup”. For $8, you receive a sweet Oktoberfest cup full of Berghoff Beer. Refills outside at the fest are only $4.75 and inside the Restaurant through October 6 are only $2.75. Now that’s a deal! And the best part…a portion of every purchase goes towards Mercy Home.
So come enjoy Oktoberfest, get your drink on, and take your chance at a few raffles – it’s for charity people. Prost!
