Chicago Restaurant Week kicked off this past Friday and runs until February 28th.  As a chef, a foodie, and native Chicagoan, Restaurant Week is one of my favorite times of the year. We have been participating in this fantastic program of the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau for years, and it’s such an honor to be among over 200 other great Chicago restaurants in 2011. Because of Berghoff’s deep roots in Chicago and my involvement with the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, I love nothing more than seeing what Restaurant Week brings to the city!  It is an opportunity for tourists as well as every day Chicagoans to experience the best of Chicago dining at a fixed price.  And hey, who doesn’t love a great deal?

This year Berghoff is offering a menu that is filled with everything from contemporary dishes (Macadamia Crusted Tilapia) to more classic items (Wiener Schnitzel a la Holstein).  When browsing our menu you will also find one of my personal favorites, Berghoff’s Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. This recipe features Blue Moon (which we’ll have on tap all month long) as a great way to enhance our classic flavors, as well as support Blue Moon’s charitable twist to this year’s Restaurant Week: for every Blue Moon purchased during the week, an orange will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Buy a beer and help feed the city? Berghoff can get behind that.

So whether you call Chicago your home or you are just visiting, I encourage you to come in for lunch or dinner and enjoy some Berghoff favorites (at a great deal) and see what this city is all about…but be sure to make a reservation first!
